Where the Art and Science of Instruction Meet

At the Educators’ Residency, we believe impactful teaching grows from real-world practice, not just theory. That is why we partner with schools, districts, and other educational entities to create immersive, hands-on professional learning experiences where educators can experiment, play, practice, apply, and reflect to create rich learning experiences for all students.

Our Approach

The Educators’ Residency is a professional learning organization grounded in the belief that teaching is both an art and a science. We combine research-based best practice with real-time, job-embedded support to help educators bridge the gap between theory and practice by building relevant content knowledge, sharpening instructional skills, and developing pedagogical craft.

Much like a medical or artist residency, we create space for hands-on learning, authentic coaching, and professional collaboration. By partnering with schools and educational communities, we reduce the isolation educators often feel and foster networks of support and shared growth. Teaching requires continual practice, reflection, and refinement, and we provide the structured support to do that in the context of your educational community.

Education is not a static endeavor. Research evolves, young people change, political contexts shift, and the world keeps moving. As a result, we aim to ensure that educators have meaningful opportunities to learn, practice, and integrate new practices into their work in the service of effective learner-centered instruction.

What We Do

Our Focus is Instruction. Period.

At the heart of everything we do is a deep commitment to meaningful teaching and learning. We understand that schools are complex ecosystems made up of people, systems, and structures. We work within that complexity to keep our focus where it matters most: creating impactful learning experiences that enable students to thrive. We partner with schools, districts, networks, organizations, and state education departments to develop clear, actionable, and strategic instructional plans that elevate instruction and learning. Together, we turn vision into practice, ensuring that exceptional instruction becomes the norm.

Our collaborative process includes:

Conducting a comprehensive needs assessment by engaging stakeholders and understanding the current educational landscape

Developing a shared instructional vision that communicates an understanding of instructional excellence with aligned priorities

Identifying and strengthening enabling conditions, including systems, structures, and routines, to support sustained instructional growth

Examining mindsets and building on strengths while addressing areas for growth across the learning community

Designing a strategic professional learning plan with clear goals, benchmarks, and an actionable path forward
